In reply to Firefox slowdown:

I must say that I have been having the exact same situation as well. I seriously do not know why as to what is the possible reason why all of a sudden Mozilla Firefox 3 beta version 5 is having an issue with Ubuntu Hardy! I have checked other browsers and it seems Ubuntu Hardy does not have any issues with them. I am planning on upgrading my current Mozilla Firefox version. My battery health was also having issues with Firefox!

The only reason these days

In reply to Flash 10 Beta on Ubuntu Hardy:

The only reason these days why many of us stop from having fun in the online game world is because of the prevalence of bugs. However I must say that after the release of Adobe Flash player10 itself, things are looking much better than before and I have to say we can now experience the minutest of differences with ease and accurate precision. I guess no matter what all come, it be HTML 5 or whatever flash player will always have insurance!

In reply to Installing Ubuntu Netbook Remix on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04:

I think it was very much relevant that Ubuntu came up with something like this. Of course, we all know how much influence the netbooks already has on not just the business end but also for home users. I think much of the reason why Ubuntu is prevailing over other operating systems is because Ubuntu Netbook Remix editions do better when compared to other operating systems. The battery health of Netbooks is also found to be great when using Ubuntu!

PLEEEEASE MARKUS

In reply to Hotspot Shield with Ubuntu:

PLEEEEASE MARKUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spend a few minutes to clear up the confusion! Just copy and paste an example of the pap and chap files! I think that's where most of us made a mistake.

I wrote this comment after reading your tutorial 100 times, double and triple checking all the files (where I did not use quotation marks and stupidly just copy pasted everything you've written) and put in my own user name and the server ip i got from the hotspotshield site and reading all the comments as well!!!

STILL NO LOVE!!!

PLEEEASE Help!!!

This is where I got stuck:

root@andor-laptop:/# sudo etc/init.d/xl2tpd start

then terminal says:

Starting xl2tpd: root@andor-laptop:/#

then I type:

echo "c hotspotshield" > /var/run/xl2tpd/xl2tp-control

terminal says:

root@andor-laptop:/#

(now i think back where i started this doesn't look good, but I type anyway):

route add -net 0.0.0.0 dev ppp0

and then terminal says:

SIOCADDRT: No such device

so I say FCUK... This again...
And type:

xl2tpd -D

Terminal:

xl2tpd[3481]: parse_config: line 77: data 'lns = HotSpotShieldServerIP' occurs with no context
xl2tpd[3481]: init: Unable to load config file

Is there no network-manager

Is there no network-manager plugin? Seems to me there is a bit of conflict between the two devices. Similar problems arise when using ppoeconf.

I love firefox because of it plugins. It makes life so easy but it is true that lots of time especially with the new version of firefox, some software that we use on daily basis just become non-compatible or make firefox to crash. This flashplayer issue is not new and I had to uninstall my video downloading plugin as there was some issues with the flashplayer. I think adobe should look into this seriously and make sure that this flashplayer is totally bug free.

thanks for this.

if hotspot shield is rather hard to set up, could you tell me what the easiest, most user-friendly way to mask one's ip when using Ubuntu?

If you could also send a reply via email (aside from posting your answer here), that would be appreciated.

Hey i don't understand....like half of it.. new to ubuntu.anywayz

on the second step, when you wrote "add", does that mean on the bottom of the page just copy and paste all that into bottom of the page of the xl2tpd.conf?

3rd step, create as in.. new page, then copy and paste all that without any changes and the file name save as "option.l2tpd.client"?

4th step
can you be more specific please? do u need the quotation marks?, is there a specific place where i write all that on each file? or do i just write it as it is
"hotspot name" hotspot ip "hotspotname" <-- just write your info down on the bottom of the page as it is.?? im really confused..sorry >< new to this scene

Lotus Notes 8 BETA for linux

In reply to Lotus Notes 8.5 Public Beta on Ubuntu Hardy:

Lotus Notes 8 BETA for linux :

Does anyone have Lotus Notes 8 BETA for linux ? Its no longer on IBM site and I've accidentally deleted my download.

I had been using LN 8 beta on linux for 2-3 years and now suddenly i have to boot to windows in office as we use lotus for mails. The 8.5 evaluation is time limited to only 60 days so I can't use that.

If someone has the beta RPMs i would really really appreciate if you could upload and give the link to me.
Thanks in Advance.
You currently can't use it for anything besides watching how development moves on.

So your question highly depends on what you expect to see.

well i think this vpn

well i think this vpn htts://www.ultravpn.fr has been around for a while and he’s completely free. As far as I know most people use it in the UAE where Skype is blocked. The speed is probably more than the average US broadband. I download at 700kb/s with this VPN.
I don’t really understand what trustworthy means? As long as Skype is unblocked and your computer is virus free for foreclosures, what else do you want? They cannot listen to your Skype conversations because Skype is encrypted. But even if they could, who cares?!

Do you really need another

In reply to Flash 10 Beta on Ubuntu Hardy:

Do you really need another reason? Microsoft have been trying to gain control of protocols since before Windows3.1 when they had their own version of TCP/IP.

Supporting openness only to yank out that support a few years later isn't exactly new to Microsoft.

This is a company that while claiming to be opensource friendly makes claims about 240+ patent infringments mortgage calculator, but then won't tell anyone what they actually are because of administration costs, instead preferring to goto the big fortune 500 companies and demand licenses for Linux installs.

A company that signs a deal with Novell that they won't sue each other, agrees to buy millions of $ of SuSe licenses from Novell only to have 2 employees including an intellectual property expert 'quit' Microsoft a month in advance (well a week for the ip expert) and join a puppet patent troll company that then turns around and sues both Novell and Redhat.

Where convicted of being an abusive monopoly by a US court, donated $30 million to the Clinton campaign and got a presidential pardon. Keeps getting antitrust after antitruct case brought against them in the EU and got fined in the billions.

So forgive me if I don't want to embrace a future where Microsoft are controlling the standards that run the internet.

Ok, so I made it past the

In reply to Hotspot Shield with Ubuntu:

Ok, so I made it past the install command in terminal, then every time i typed in [lac hotspotshield], it said "[lac" was not a valid command or something like that, so after a bit i gave up, only to find all embedded videos online no longer function, straight through from youtube shit to megavideo. I wish I hadn't closed terminal after I gave up so I could have paste the whole thing in here for a look over, but I'm pretty confused. I reloaded flash in terminal and it said I already had the most up to date version, I removed the xl2tpd in terminal, still all videos are blank. Somebody please help me out because the only thing I did on my machine between working and non-working net videos was that terminal command.

Thanks,
Justin
